Summer School Global Explorer

Travel the world with virtual reality! The class will be using the augmented reality application “VR Atlas” while exploring the culture and famous landmarks of different countries. Students will learn about countries all over the world and visit incredible places! Each week we will introduce a new exciting new destination students can join.

North America

Greetings from North America! In this exciting journey around this continent, go on a tour of the city that never sleeps! Experience the bustling life of New Yorkers in the middle of Times Square, visit the all-famous Central Park, go up high on the Statue of Liberty, and visit other monumental places like the Empire State Building! 

South America

Explore one of the most mystical places on Earth – South America! During your expedition within South America, you will not only be visiting incredibly historic places, you will be immersed in South American culture! Learn some tango moves to dance in the famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival, learn some basic recipes to make authentic foods like ceviche and chimichurri sauce, and much more! Have you ever wondered how plants can grow in a large forest like the Amazon? The plant maze project will have you learning how plants can navigate their way!

English Skills
The Global Explorer is targeted at experienced English learners. However, support in the classroom for beginners will be available.
●Listening: understand intermediate to advanced discussion and directions.
●Speaking: partake in discussions with other students and teachers using short sentences.
Reading/Writing: read and write short to long sentences with assistance.

Extend your adventures with the VR Kit!

The VR contents will be projected on a screen for all students to enjoy during our summer school program. Students are also welcome to purchase their own VR kit and enjoy additional content in virtual reality both at school and at home!
(Price: ¥13,200 / Application deadline: May 18th)

Students that purchase the optional VR set will receive:

・138-page Interactive VR Atlas Book
・World Passport
・Hands-on projects including dinosaur dig set, 3D Eiffel tower set, volcano maker, and much more

*Please note: All students who participate in this course must have a smartphone to enjoy the VR experience. Students who participate in this course will need to download the VR Atlas App on a smartphone prior to the start of the first class. To download the app, smartphones will need at least 2GB of space
*Both Google Android and Apple iOS smartphones are compatible with the Global Explorer VR kit. The minimum software requirement is as follows: Android version 7.0 or greater, Apple iOS version 9.0 or greater. Please note that Apple iPhones 6 and older may not support the augmented reality (AR) functions found in the app as Apple no longer supports updates for iPhone 6. We recommend an iPhone 6S or newer to achieve full functionality.
